It is an electronic board with an inductive type magnetic sensor, analog to digital converter and microprocessor for signal analisys and pattern decoding; the results can be read on the on board display or sent to a remote terminal via RS232C serial interface. The processor system can be programmed for pattern recognition or for pattern validation and waveform analisys.

The reader has been used with optimal results on a portable system for the recognition and validation of Euro banknotes by reading the magnetic thread encoded pattern; in the specific application, as the banknote was moving under the sensor without speed control, the enbedded firmware has been improved so as to be tolerant to strong time and amplitude signal distortions.

The reader can be used as well in the recognition of magnetic characters conforming to the Europen standard CMC7 or american E13B.
