The step motor is an electromechanical transducer, that it converts
electrical command pulses in programmable mechanical movements; at the same
time it is an actuator and a positioning device.
The step motors are essentially of three types: motors to variable reluctance
(rotor with iron poles), hybrid motors with permanent magnets and motors
with high performances in terms of torque, speed and precision.
The stepper motors are extremely strong, not having parts subject to stress
(absence of collector and brushes).
